Dear Boy Who Shall Remain Nameless,
Thank you for opening my eyes to the world around me and to what I want in a future relationship. Though our interaction was rather quite short, I learned a lifetime worth of knowledge. A few things you taught me are as follows:
- You taught me that if someone pays attention to the people around them and are fully aware, they can observe a lot about a person. That someone can tell if a person is hiding behind a painted on smile, and if life isn’t all unicorn and rainbows for them as they put on to the observer.
- You taught me that the “happiest” people are often some of the least happy. They put on a façade to try to hide away their pain. Some are successful, and others just seem like they are pretending to be nice — because they are forcing the happiness, but not for the same reasons that the observers may assume.
- You taught me that real connections exist. One can experience a life changing connection with another human being that changes their whole perspective on life and what they believed/thought before. During a real connection, you feel safe and at home at that moment in time. (The following quote sums it up precisely.)
- You taught me that it is possible for someone out there to understand our situations. Sometimes it takes several years until we meet someone who has gone through the same experience, but they are out there waiting to be found.
- You taught me that if one meets a person with a stellar personality, that person’s looks become their personality. One then associates that person’s eyes and teeth to when they smile, which causes their personality to radiate through the room — in spirals that consume oneself and fills oneself up with delight.
- You taught me about the beauty of art whether it be poetry, music, or painting. Without these things, it’s pretty hard to stay afloat in this crazy storm known as life.
- You taught me about love. The following is what I wrote after our meeting: The other day I got a glimpse of what love is like. Love is that click you get with another person where you can talk about anything. Love is being able to talk for hours. Love is never getting bored with the other person. Love is being comfortable in silence together. Love is being nonjudgmental about the other person. Love is being able to be vulnerable and trusting the other with your deepest secrets. Love is feeling comfortable, peaceful, and at home. Love fills you with bliss. Love makes you randomly smile throughout the day. Love makes you wonder how you could ever feel so hopeless. Love is full of hope and happiness. Finding love is a life changing moment; your eyes open up to a brighter world. Darkness diminishes in their presence.
Thank you for teaching me those things. If I could tell you anything, I would tell you:
- In our short encounter, you touched my soul in a way that I have yet to figure out how exactly to put into words.
- I’m glad I met a beautiful soul like yours; Coming upon it seems as rare as finding a precious gem in a mound of gravel.
- I see a light within you; so much love, compassion, knowledge, and wisdom. There is so much raw beauty hidden within you.
- I fell in deep admiration with your mind and soul.
- You’re the one that got away that was never mine in the first place.
